When we come together, our small actions make a big difference. As a child, Matthew championed East Hampton's first Earth Hour to protect pollinators from harmful night lighting. As an Eagle Scout, he designed this sanctuary of native plants, herbs and vegetables. After his passing at 17, Boy Scouts, family and friends brought his vision to life; ReWild Long Island has since joined in tending this haven. Through this garden, Matthew reminds us that, by caring for pollinators, we care for our community. "Our mission is to be a source of nutrition for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds-and in turn, for us as well. Without these essential pollinators, humankind will be lost." - Matthew Lester Matthew's Garden is a treasured member of the ReWild Community Gardens Program, funded in part by The New York Community Trust - Long Island.
