Ready, set, run! The 39th Annual Shelter Island 10K is set for Saturday, June 16, rain or shine! Runners from all over will run this scenic course, including former Olympians Bill Rodgers and Joan Benoit Samuelson. Following the race will be a Family Fun Post Race Festival and the whole family is welcome to join! The after party will take place on the ground of the American Legion and is complimentary to all runners. There will be dancing in the street with DJ Twilio, local artisan food trucks, a beer and wine tent, a kids area, a silent auction, a BBQ and more. Don’t think you can run a full 10K? No worries! You have the option of running a 5K AND walkers are welcome. Cost for the 10K is $40 in advance, $50 day of the race and cost for the 5K is $30 in advance and $40 day of the race. There will be a Main Street Stage featuring live music all day – from bluegrass to folk to rock n roll. Hampton Free Ride will be providing shuttle service from John Marshall Elementary School parking lot too. There’ll be plenty of activities for kids including a KIDZONE featuring a climbing wall, jumping castle, face painters, arts and crafts and more. In addition, Golden Eagle Arts will be providing a free “Make a Mother’s Day Card” station on the lawn of Eileen Fisher. Food Court, Yoga … and Sidewalk Sales! New this year is a food court featuring lobster rolls, shrimp po-boys, BBQ from Townline BBQ, hand-made fried gourmet wantons, wood-fired pizza, homemade beef jerky from Greenport Jerky, homemade pickles from Perfect Pickle, handmade chocolates, baked goods and premade sandwiches and salads from Mary’s Marvelous and handmade pretzels! This year visitors will enjoy a sidewalk sale component whereby businesses on Newtown Lane and Main Street will be able to have sidewalk sales!
